As Cologne’s only accredited DELE Young Learners center, we administer Spain’s official fluency exams (A1-B1). These lifelong certifications open doors to Spanish universities and global careers, assessed through practical communication tasks.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that aims to build emergency shelters for families in need. The Cologne International School supports Habitat for Humanity as part of the IBDP CAS programme.

SOS – Hermann Gmeiner International College Exchange

Since 2015, CIS has maintained an annual exchange program with SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College in Tema, Ghana. This initiative fosters cross-cultural understanding and global citizenship by enabling students from both institutions to experience each other’s educational environments and cultures firsthand.

Jugend debattiert (Youth Debates)

Good debates are a prerequisite for living democracy and a successful coexistence in our diverse society. Our secondary school has been participating in the Jugend competition since the 2011/12 school year.

LESEPUNKTE

LESEPUNKTE is an online literary review platform by and for young readers. CIS students contribute by writing and publishing book reviews, which helps them develop critical reading and writing skills while sharing their perspectives with a broader audience.

American International Women's Club of Cologne (AIWCC)

CIS collaborates with AIWCC, an English-speaking, non-profit organization that supports international women in Cologne. This partnership fosters community engagement, cultural exchange, and charitable initiatives, enriching the school’s global perspective and providing students with opportunities to connect with a diverse network of women dedicated to making a positive impact.

Amazonas-Dschungel

Im Februar 2024 begaben sich 25 unserer CIS-Schüler auf eine lange Reise in den Amazonas-Dschungel in Iquitos, Peru. Die Schüler hatten in den vorangegangenen Monaten hart gearbeitet, um Gelder für ihr gemeinnütziges Projekt mit den lokalen Gemeinden von El Chino in der Tahuayo-Region des Amazonasbeckens zu sammeln. Vor Ort nahmen unsere 25 Schüler zusammen mit unseren drei Lehrern und den Führern der Lodge, in der sie untergebracht waren, an einem ganztägigen gemeinnützigen Projekt teil, bei dem die Schüler zwei komplette Grundschulklassenräume bauten. Unsere Schüler bauten 20 Tische und 20 Stühle mit Hilfe der örtlichen Gemeinde von Grund auf neu und stellten die neuen Möbel schließlich in den Klassenzimmern auf. Dank dieser Initiative konnten die Schüler zwei Klassenzimmer einrichten, in denen die Kinder der Gemeinde nun ganztägig unterrichtet werden. An der CIS gehört es zu den Grundpfeilern einer exzellenten Ausbildung, das Privileg eines IB-Schülers und eines Schülers einer internationalen Schule zu verstehen und zu erkennen, wie wichtig es ist, Weltbürger zu sein. Damit einher geht die Verantwortung, für die Gemeinschaften, die diese Welt bevölkern, verantwortlich zu sein, und die Bedeutung, etwas zurückzugeben und Veränderungen zu bewirken!
